How It Works
- Small electrodes are placed near the spinal cord
- A generator (like a pacemaker) is implanted under the skin
- Electrical pulses replace pain sensation with a tingling feeling
- Patient controls stimulation with a remote
Two-Phase Process
- Trial period: Temporary leads to test effectiveness
- Permanent implant: If trial successful, permanent system is placed
